Research Assistant Dr. Chun-Kai Yang

I am an herpetologist specializing in the ecology, behavior, and conservation of snakes. Currently, I am establishing study sites in secondary forests, artificial forests, reclaimed areas, and photovoltaic fields in Taiwan to investigate human-snake conflicts and the impacts of human development on amphibians and reptiles. In the future, I plan to engage in multinational collaborative research with researchers of Japan and Southeast Asia. In addition to my primary research areas, I am also involved in interdisciplinary studies, including toxicology, veterinary science, and citizen science. I founded the Facebook group "Is This a 'Snake'? Survey Platform for Volunteers of Taiwanese Snakes" and collaborate with the "Taiwan Reptile Reporting" system to create a foundational ecological database for Taiwanese snakes.
