In recent years, several large-scale ground-based photovoltaic projects have been developed or are planned for development in Fenglin Township, Hualien. These developments, many located on private or state-owned land, could potentially have both negative and positive impacts on the local ecology and socio-economic well-being. Government development procedures require developers to hold briefings in the area to understand residents' attitudes, concerns, and needs, which will inform development and site planning. On October 22nd, researchers from the Center, as part of a National Technology Science Council research project, participated in two briefings held by developers in the Chung-Hsing and Lin-Rong communities to understand the perspectives and suggestions of local communities and tribes regarding ground-based photovoltaic projects.
