Cooperation Opportunities

  

  One of the main goals of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Ecology and Sustainability (CIRES) is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration among domesticate and international scientists. We plan to invite multiple experts and scholars to collaboratively use existing data to address complex issues in ecological conservation and sustainable development. Currently, we have long-term ecological data from Taiwan and other regions in East/East Southeast Asia. If you are interested in utilizing existing resources, or providing integrated analysis data, or proposing new projects, please feel free to contact us.

  Our currently undertaking projects:

  • Landscape-scale ecosystem service assessment for the construction of socio-ecological system integration governance of ground-based photovoltaic development.

  • Renewable energy, agricultural production, and biodiversity conservation: Research on socio-ecological system resilience and governance.

  • Environmental and ecological monitoring project for the Hualien Zhaofeng Photovoltaic Power Plant of Shengfeng Power Company.

  Graduate Student and Fieldwork Volunteer Positions

  The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Ecologyl and Sustainability (CIRES) is a research center at the College of Environmental Studies and Oceanography, National Dong Hwa University. The university is located in Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, situated in the beautiful Huatung Valley, with the towering Central Mountain Range to the west and the vast Pacific Ocean to the east.

  All CIRES members welcome volunteers interested in academic research and fieldwork. Volunteering in an academic environment to learn environmental science is a valuable opportunity to gain experience and knowledge, preparing you for undergraduate or graduate programs. When contacting us, please include your research motivation or interests, as well as any previous experience and qualifications. We will recommend you to the appropriate CIRES members for further discussion.
