It is our pleasure to partner with National Geographic Channel on the Photo Ark project from April 11 to 12, 2023. The project aims to photograph wildlife around the world, raising public awareness of conservation through vivid photographs, and extending the work to related fields such as environmental education and conservation.
During the two-day trip, Dr. Chun-kai Yang of the Center led a National Geographic Channel team into the secondary forests of Hualien for a field survey. They assisted in photographing native species such as snakes, frogs, crabs, slugs, and snails. To date, project leader Joel Sartore has photographed over 13,000 wildlife species worldwide. This event not only helped promote Taiwanese species to the world, but also will continue to collaborate with the team's photographers to promote Taiwan's biodiversity and conservation efforts. Special thanks to Center Research Assistant Ting-An Zhuang and National Dong Hwa University Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies students Yi-Cheng Lu,Man-Lin Lin , and Shang-Hong Chang for their participation and assistance.
