Dr. Chun-Kai Yang
I am a herpetologist specializing in the ecology, behavior, and conservation of snakes. Currently, I have established research sites in Taiwan's secondary forests, plantations, reclaimed areas, and solar power fields to study human-snake conflicts and the impact of human development on amphibians and reptiles. In the future, I plan to collaborate on cross-national research with scientists from Japan and Southeast Asia. In addition to my main research focus, I also engage in interdisciplinary studies, including toxicology, veterinary science, and citizen science. I founded the Facebook group "What is this 'Snake'? Taiwan Snake Volunteer Survey" and collaborated with the "Taiwan Reptile Reporting" system to create a foundational ecological database for Taiwan's snake species.
